The influences present in my work originate from a sense of place and time. Having grown up in historic Newport, RI, I am connected to the culture of New England and its inherent beauty - where the ocean meets the sky and all things nautical and maritime are ubiquitous. The narrative you see on my canvases were defined by an eclectic independent mother, a grandmother who loved fashion and a grandfather who cherished the bygone eras of musicals and black & white films.

We are all an accumulation of our experiences. We reflect on the people, places and things that have made the fabric of our life.  These experiences leave lasting imprints upon our memory that play out in flashes of images of one's lifetime in your mind’s eye, like a flickering movie reel. My interest in art is a mirroring of all my most impressionable images that play out in my conscious mind.

“What lies behind you and what lies in front of you,
pales in comparison to what lies inside of you.”

Ralph Waldo Emerson
